ABOUT STARRY NIGHT RANCH

Overview

We look forward to hosting you at the Starry Night Ranch (SNR). We are a family run ranch located on the western edge of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Our goal is to be a premier trophy hunting and family outdoor experience destination for a limited number of clients. We offer some of the best trophy whitetail deer hunting in Texas as well as great trophy Axis and Blackbuck Antelope.

Starry Night Ranch offers the ultimate trophy hunting experience by focusing on the quality of our deer herd and the overall experience of our clients. Our goal is to help our clients create memories that will last a lifetime!

About the Ranch

The Starry Night Ranch headquarters is located just north of London, Texas. The ranch sits on the western edge of the Texas hill country which is famous for its unique topography and clear rivers and streams. The ranch has been cleared of much of the cedar and mesquite and is covered in a diverse variety of native native oaks and grasses. The headquarters is a four bedroom, two and a half bath Texas ranch style log and rock lodge. We have also added our new three bedroom, two bath rock and cedar guest lodge.

This part of the Texas hill country is rich in history. Inhabited by various tribes of Native Americans for centuries. In the 1700’s the area was settled by the Spanish. A few miles from the ranch is the Spanish Mission San Sabá and the Presidio of San Luís de Amarillas, established in 1757.

The ranch is in Menard county with the closest community being London, Texas, home of the historical, century-old London Dance Hall. This area of Texas is known as the divide, as the rolling hills of Central Texas meet the vast open spaces of West Texas.

The ranch is 150 miles west of Austin, Texas, the live musical capital of the world. In addition to the many musical festivals such as ACL and SXSW, Austin is also home to the Americas Formula-1 Grand Prix every fall. Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) is very convenient with direct flights to many cities in the US and abroad. If you prefer not to rent a car, the ranch can provide transportation from ABIA for a nominal fee.   San Antonio's airport is only 132 miles to the ranch.  There is much to explore in this historic city including the Alamo and famous Riverwalk area.

What you can expect at Starry Night Ranch

At Starry Night Ranch we have an Intensive deer management program under the direction of our staff biologist.  The Whitetail deer are naturally bred, born and grow to maturity in the field. No pen raised deer here.  SNR offers an exceptional opportunity for mature Texas Trophy Whitetail deer in a fair chase setting. Wildlife management includes year-round protein feeding, supplemental food plots, and aggressive culling of bucks. The ranch follows strict management guidelines for producing Trophy Whitetail deer, which makes the SNR a deer hunters' dream.

At Starry Night Ranch we are committed to providing you a wonderful and memorable experience. To do this it is important to make sure expectations are set for us and our clients.

  • This is a hunting adventure, and in hunting there are no guarantees that you will harvest the game of your choice. The guides will make every effort possible to make your hunt successful.

  • If you book a Trophy Whitetail Deer Package and did not have an opportunity at a trophy deer, you can return to the ranch the same year and pay only the daily rate of $150.

  • We highly encourage our hunters to harvest mature trophy bucks or bucks that have been determined as culls. Our experienced guides will identify the best trophies to be harvested.

  • Archery shots are typically 20 yards and rifle shots are typically 100 yards. We encourage you to bring your own gun. We do have rifles available for people who do not wish to bring their own.

  • Your guide will make every effort possible to recover your game. We are very successful in finding wounded deer, but not always perfect. Unfortunately, if a wounded deer does elude our extensive search it will count against your harvest. It may be possible to call in special dogs to recover your game at additional charge (subject to availability). If your trophy is recovered after your departure we can arrange to have the antlers shipped to you.

  • Safety is our number one priority at SNR. We will begin your stay with a safety orientation, no matter your experience level.

  • Your game harvested will be cared for by your guide or other ranch staff. We will field dress and quarter all meat for transport. We can arrange for your meat to be processed and for expert taxidermy of your trophy. Processing and taxidermy cost, as well as shipping if required, is not included in the hunt package.

  • The cost of your hunting package includes very comfortable sleeping quarters, linens, all meals and non-alcoholic beverages. Guest may bring their own alcoholic beverages to be consumed in the evenings.

  • All meals are provided and served family style. Expect to dine on Texas BBQ, delicious wild game and plenty of healthy fresh fruits and vegetables.

  • What you should bring: Suitable clothing, gear, binoculars, comfortable hunting boots, weapon(s), and coolers with ice (if you choose to take your game with you). We'll provide the rest. The Texas Hill Country has a great climate. However, it can be unpredictable at times, so you may want the option to layer or shed your clothing as the day progresses.

  • In consideration of our other guests at the ranch we do not allow pets.

  • All hunters must have a valid Texas hunting license. Information and cost can be found on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website. http://tpwd.texas.gov/business/licenses/online_sales/
